My eighteen years at Sia Orthodontic Specialist Clinic have been a meaningful and heartwarming journey. From the clinic’s humble beginnings to its steady growth today, I have had the privilege of witnessing the dedication and growth of every team member, while also accompanying countless patients on their journey to better oral health. Whether it was standing together through the pandemic or showing small daily acts of care, this place has always been filled with both professionalism and warmth.
What touches me most is seeing young patients I once treated grow into adults, and even returning to the clinic with their own children. In those moments, it feels as if time rewinds — we are not only guardians of their dental health, but also witnesses to their life’s journey. Our patients come from all over the world — China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, as well as Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Many people ask me: “After all these years, what makes you the happiest?”
Honestly, the thing that brings me the most joy isn’t just handing instruments to the dentist or operating the equipment — it’s seeing patients go from fear, to trust, to finally showing a bright smile. Some children come for their very first dental visit so nervous they cry and refuse to open their mouths. But when we patiently comfort them, gently guide them, and even chat about cartoons or tell them stories… little by little, they start to relax. Then there are adult patients who walk in visibly anxious, telling us they haven’t seen a dentist in over ten years — afraid of pain, afraid of embarrassment. But when the treatment is done and they look in the mirror to see their new smile, some are moved to tears. Some even say to us, “Thank you, I’m no longer afraid of the dentist.”
In those moments, I truly feel — we’re not just assistants, we’re companions helping others become brave. As a DSA, we work quietly behind the scenes every day. We might not always be noticed, but I know our presence is irreplaceable. Many people think being a dental surgery assistant is monotonous or repetitive. But for me, this job lets me witness the power of change every single day.
And that, for the past 6 years, has been my greatest joy. ❤️

It’s the teamwork — the way I can just glance at the dentist, and we both know exactly what’s needed next.
It’s the feeling of being trusted — when patients say, “I feel safer when you are around.”
It’s training a new junior nurse, watching them go from unsure to confident, and realizing —
“Wow, that used to be me.”
It’s the fast-paced days, the funny moments in the clinic, even the times we laugh behind our masks between patients.
Sure, the work is tough. Long hours, lots of standing, lots of sterilizing and suctioning. But at the end of the day, I know I’ve grown — Not just as a dental assistant, but as a communicator, a team player, and someone who helps people smile again.
And that? That’s my happiest part. 💙🦷
